In this Exclusive Interview, Natasha Simon talks about her journey, approach, and much more.

What according to you makes for a powerful woman? How do you integrate the same thought into your leadership?

I believe that my integrity and the drive to be the best, along with always treating others as I expect to be treated is what has taken me far in my career. I make sure to exhibit integrity in my everyday life whether it be with my family, friends, or my customers. I believe in planting good seeds. If I plant good seeds, I am assured of reaping a good harvest.

Most people try to imitate the things that I do, but they don’t mimic this belief and my faith in God, one which is critical to my success and leadership.

What is your earliest memory as a leader / entrepreneur that you can remember?

My earliest memory as a leader was when I was 9 years old where I created a carnival. I asked all of the neighbors in our townhome apartments to not park their cars on our row between the hours of 4 to 8 so that I could run my festival.

I created games like coloring page contests, knock down the can with rocks, etc. I created tickets by tracing out chuck-e-cheese tickets and charged the kids for the games. Depending upon how many tickets they had, I bought some toys from the dollar store as prizes. To advertise, I had help from my aunt who worked at a copy center. I instructed her to copy me neon colors flyers that I placed on every door of the neighborhood for my very own “October fest.”

My turnout was huge. So much so that I had to send my mom to the store to get hotdogs and nachos to sell. We sold out of everything and made a lot of money.

Can you imagine these kids spending about 20 bucks back then to play games and win a prize that cost a dollar? I had assigned people to run the games, etc. It was bananas. I was a leader at a very early age with such entrepreneurial activities.

What prompted your interest and subsequently your foray into the real estate space?

My Interest in real estate can be attributed to my husband who was a loan officer, and I was always so picky to make sure that the home was something I would buy.

Seeing that I had the gift of turning so many NO’s into Yes’s, I soon knew real estate was one of my callings and I was in my ministry.

What is the approach followed by you in order to ensure optimal client satisfaction?

I am always persistent and very methodical by trade. I have a Master’s degree in Computer Science so everything is as deep as a deep calculus problem for me.

I always say I can outthink most people in this industry because I am left-brained, while most are right brained. I am concise, to the point, and highly efficient with my services. My sample comment… “Yes, the home is beautiful but what does it take to get you in it with the best terms?” That is where I thrive!

What does a day in the life of Natasha Simon look like? How do you ensure work-life balance?

According to my team, they feel true pressure working alongside me almost as if they’re working for Beyonce (whom I love).

First of all, I wake up at about 6am. I relax in bed until about 6:30-7 am. I roll over with the laptop at that time, start sending emails and yelling at everyone on my team, lol. I walk with my husband in the neighborhood, interact, and finally get the kids ready for school.

Following this, I am attending meetings, checking on files, and consistently answering new leads since 85% of my business is referral-based. I help my kids with their homework and then take them to their games with my husband, and then cook dinner. I LOVE to cook.

I get kiddos ready for bed around 7, when they don’t have a game. I’m in the bed around 8:30 and sleep by 9:30-10 pm.

Looking at your journey, what would you have done differently if you were to start again?

I would have started earlier and would be then able to help even more people. I went all the way through a Master’s program and had no clue that real estate and helping people was one of my purposes.

Since 2012 I have been able to close almost 1000 homes. After working for 6 years in the industry in part-time capacity, I went full-time in October 2019. By 2016-2018 I was closing over 50 homes per year, part time.

What would be your advice for aspiring and emerging women in the real estate industry?

Always keep God first and you cannot go wrong. HE is truly why I am such a success today. Most people seem to forget that.

Finally, what does the future look like for you, both professionally and personally?

Professionally, I plan to have different branches of The Money Team, like a franchise.

Personally, I plan to make sure I am at most of my kid’s important activities. I also plan to continue enjoying my time with my amazing husband and be happy and blessed. At the end of the day, these are the things that are the most important to me.
