Andrea Reynolds has long been a champion for small and medium-sized businesses. A seasoned accountant and corporate finance advisor, she spent more than 15 years helping companies raise funds through loans, investment, and grants before founding Swoop in 2018, a global fintech platform built to simplify access to funding for SMEs.
Her mission was clear: to use technology to break down the barriers that small business owners face when trying to grow. Today, Swoop functions as a virtual CFO, leveraging financial data to match businesses with the right funding at the right time. The platform also helps owners unlock savings through smarter decisions on banking, utilities, and other operational costs.
A Leader Rooted in Experience
Andrea’s leadership is deeply grounded in lived experience. “We are our own best-case study,” she says. Swoop’s own journey has been powered by grants, debt, and equity, the same tools it helps other businesses navigate. That empathy drives the company’s core values and sets it apart in an increasingly crowded fintech space.
Under her leadership, Swoop has grown rapidly, with offices in Dublin, London, Toronto, and Sydney, and a team of 100+ employees. In 2023, the company was named Ireland’s fastest-growing technology company by Deloitte’s Fast 50 and raised €6.3 million in Series A funding, valuing the business at over $30 million.
Recognized for Impact
Andrea was named Irish Tatler Business Woman of the Year in 2024 and was shortlisted for EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year Ireland the same year. She’s affectionately known as the “Martin Lewis of business finance,” a name that reflects both her deep expertise and the trust she’s earned within the business community.
In addition to her role at Swoop, Andrea serves as Chair of Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance, Risk Committee Chair of Berkshire Hathaway European Insurance, and NED of Faraday. She also sits on the Ireland for Finance Committee, advising the Minister for Financial Services.
A Voice for Founders
Beyond boardrooms and balance sheets, Andrea is committed to educating and empowering underrepresented founders, leading masterclasses and funding workshops globally. Proudly Irish and purpose-driven, she’s lifting up the next generation of entrepreneurs, one funding decision at a time.
